Electrical Engineering is one of the oldest branch from time immemorial. It is one of the fundamental branches of Science and Technology on which all other branch of engineering have evolved from. Electrical and Electronics Engineering work in a variety of fields including power sector, machine design, renewable energy sector, biomedical engineering, aerospace industry, communication industry and information technology. The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering has intake of 60 students per year. It has well established laboratories and is manned qualified and dedicated faculty.
B.E. - Electrical and Electronics Engineering – 4 years
To bring out competent electrical and electronics engineers, innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs with awareness and a sense of social responsibility.
To provide solid knowledge of Mathematics, Basic Sciences and Social Sciences in general and Electrical and Electronics Engineering in particular that imparts the necessary analytical, logical and designing skills. Graduates of the programme will have multi-disciplinary Knowledge and innovative skills to design and develop electrical & electronics products and systems.
To produce socially committed individuals with effective communication skills and professional competence with an ethical acumen that enables them to pursue successful careers.
To inculcate in the students, research aptitude in the different areas of Electrical and Electronics Engineering to identify, comprehend and solve problems and adapt themselves in a world of constantly evolving technology.
Engineering Graduates will be able to:
1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of Mathematics, Science, Engineering fundamentals and Electrical and Electronics Engineering to the solution of complex problems in engineering.
2. Problem analysis: Design and development of Electrical and Electronics products/Systems that meets specified needs with the consideration for the public health and safety, cultural, societal and environmental issues.
3. Design/development of solutions: Design and development of Electrical and Electronics products/Systems that meets specified needs with the consideration for the public health and safety, cultural, societal and environmental issues.
4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Analysis of complex problems in electrical apparatus and energy systems using research based knowledge and research methods to provide valid solutions.
5. Modern tool usage: Apply appropriate tools and techniques for the modeling and analysis of Electrical and Electronics devices and systems.
6. The engineer and society: Apply Knowledge gained to assess societal, safety and cultural issues relevant to the professional engineering practice.
6. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of solutions in electrical engineering field in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate the importance of sustainable development
8. Ethics: Apply ethnical principles and professional responsibilities in electrical and electronics engineering practice.

On 06-August-2016 our department has organized a one day industrial visit to Sakthi Transformers, Chennai. It took about one hour to reach the company as soon as we reached the company we were guided by Mr. T.K.RAMAJAYAM, senior engineer. A team of 55 students with two faculty members have taken part of industrial visit.The Design and Mathematical analysis were practically absorbed from R&D department. Department of Electrical and electronics engineering conducted a guest lecture on recent developments in relays, control panels and switch gears on 23/07/16 Mr. R Jayaraman, senior engineer & section head in production department EASUN REYROLLE Ltd., was the resource person for this program. It was very engaging for the students. They all learned alot and gained a immense knowledge in the topics.
An Industrial Visit was conducted for the EEE department for 2nd year and 3rd year on 03.03.16 to Substation in Sunguvarchatram & Sriperumbudur. The substation in Sriperumbudur was a 400KV substation which supply power to chennai and its suburban areas. The substation in Sunguvarchatram has two in-built 400/230KV tranformers and two 200KV transformers. It was a Awe moment for us.

The IAENG Society of Electrical Engineering (ISEE) is organized for the engineers and the scholars in the electrical engineering discipline.
